Community Guidelines

The Line is a community for freedivers of all levels — from curious beginners to world-record holders. These guidelines exist to keep the space useful, safe, and welcoming for everyone.

1. Be Respectful

Disagree with ideas, not people. Healthy debate is welcome; personal attacks, insults, and condescension are not. If a conversation is frustrating you, take a breath (literally — you know how) and step back.

2. Safety First — Always

Freediving is a sport where poor advice can cost lives. If you share technique, training, or depth guidance, be honest about your experience level and always include relevant safety context. The buddy system is not optional — advocate for it, always.

Threads that promote dangerous practices without appropriate safety warnings may be removed. This is not about limiting discussion — it is about protecting our community.

3. No Spam or Self-Promotion

Occasional mentions of your course, product, or platform are fine if they are relevant and disclosed. Repeated promotional posts, unsolicited DMs, or threads whose primary purpose is advertising will be removed.

4. Stay On Topic

This forum is for freediving and related topics: breath-hold diving, apnea training, gear, safety, physiology, competition, and dive spots. General Discussion exists for introductions and community meta. Keep posts in the most relevant category.

5. No Harassment

Harassment, targeted abuse, or any behaviour intended to make another member feel unwelcome will result in an immediate ban. This applies equally in threads, replies, and any off-forum contact that originates here.

6. How Moderation Works

The Line uses a combination of AI-assisted review and human moderation. AI flags potentially problematic content for human review — it does not automatically remove anything. Moderators review flagged content and take action where needed: removal, a warning, or a ban.

Moderation decisions are final. If you believe a decision was made in error, contact us via the About page.

7. How to Report

If you see content that violates these guidelines, email richard@theline.to with a link to the content and a brief description of the issue. Do not respond to rule-breaking content — just report it and move on.

8. Guideline Updates

These guidelines may be updated as the community grows. Significant changes will be announced in the General Discussion category.
